Flight of the Conchords is a Grammy award winning New Zealand-based comedy duo composed of Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. Billing themselves as “formerly New Zealand’s fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo”, the group uses a combination of witty observation, characterisation and acoustic guitar music. The duo’s comedy and music became the basis of a BBC radio series and then an American television series, which premiered in 2007 on HBO, also called Flight of the Conchords. They were named Best Alternative Comedy Act at the 2005 US Comedy Arts Festival and Best Newcomer at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, and they received a nomination for the Perrier Comedy Award at the 2003 Edinburgh Festival Fringe after performing at a venue called The Caves. The duo’s live performances have gained them a worldwide cult following. Christmas present for my 18 year old girlfriend?

I met my girlfriend online some time ago and she lives in Missouri. Sadly, that’s about 2000 miles away from my house in Oregon. I will be getting the chance to go there over Christmas break and have NO idea what to get her. It will be the first time I see her in 5 months! I don’t have much money since I have to pay for plane tickets, but I have no problem making something. I’ve given her jewelry, painted her pictures, sang her songs, written poetry. I just don’t know what to get her now. She says that me being there is the best present she could ask for…but I still want to get her something. So is there anything sweet and original that you guys have gotten, given, or thought of? Thanks!

When I graduate high school, I’m going to take the year off. What do I do with my free time?

I’m an almost 18 year old guy and I’m going to graduate high school soon. My marks aren’t good enough to go to university and I have no job and no money, so I’m going to take the year off to work and raise my marks online. The problem with doing this is that I won’t have anything to do. I’m a loner by nature and highly introverted, so I don’t really have any friends. I’ve been trying to make some though. I met this one girl last year and I guess we’re friends, but we don’t hang out that often. I told her that we should talk and hang out more. I guess I could talk to her more over the year, but I can’t really see her all the time.

I’ve thought about doing an online blog like livejournal or something like that. I’ve been told I’m a very good writer and I have a lot of things to say. I would use it mainly for writing about certain topics and writing my opinion on things. Just general topics that float in my head everyday that never get out because I don’t talk to anybody. I might see if I could join a club or something just to get a little more social. I don’t really know though.

What do you think?
The reason I ask is because I have been trying to get over depression for a year now. I tend to isolate myself from people a lot. When I graduate, I will have way too much free time and I might sink deeper into depression. So I need help.
Cris, I honestly don’t believe anything you say. You don’t know that I’m not going to go to school. You just assume. You know absolutely nothing about what I’m going to do. I can’t handle university right now, so I’m not going. All I’m asking is for advice on how to handle my time.

Help! I am sooo Confused…?

My girlfriend who I lived together with for almost 2 years, moved out. she says that she was unhappy and left. now she has forced me to sell our new house, she has no money, stress out all the time, living in a bad part of town and she is refusing my help. she says that she would rather live there then our beautiful 4/2 house that we have. she says that she had to go and she holds all this resentment for me. I feel horrible for her. she is in a bad situation, and I am broken hearted. everything that I do seems to make this whole situation worse not better. I love her and want her to come back home. We never had relationship problems that would justify this. she says that she cant come back to me and she thinks that I am this person that I’m not. I dont know what to do.
