This is a review of Springfield Armory’s GI Model M1911-A1. The 1911 seen here is straight from the factory with about 1000+ rounds and different grips, but besides that it is as it comes from Springfield Armory. In the shooting footage and some of the photos it looks horribly dirty. This was because I just did a mini torture test on it, so stay tuned for that video soon. The Good -Nice compliment of accessories in a nice case -The SA storage safety mechanism is great, saves me the trouble of taking out the firing pin when I store it for safety -Nice basic 1911 to start from -It manages to mostly stay true to the overall GI look and feel while incorporating slight but necessary modern improvements to allow for hollow points and other ammo to be run through it -The parts are overall good and solid for the most part -The finish is not truly “GI” but it comes close, looks good, and is pretty durable -A great place to start for learning how to gunsmith the 1911 system -Great subject pistol if you’re taking an armorer’s or gunsmithing course -Can’t argue or fight with the stopping power of the .45 ACP, especially if you get some nasty +P hollow points -It’s very accurate, that you can count on; accuracy will vary depending on ammunition quality and skill, but with the optimal of both you will be well off -The barrel has nice, crisp rifling; I see no need to replace it till it is completely worn down The Bad -The Spring’s power didn’t last long and it seemed a little weak from …
