we need to sell our house ASAP – can’t really afford to pay all of the sellers costs including the commission. Don’t want to make any money from the sale – just enough to pay off the exisiting mortgage. Should we list it with an agent – or for sale by owner? Any one with advice – please help??

Please help us…..my family and I have a house that is in a semi-rual area. In the attic, there appears to be an invasion of raccoons. They are loud (researched sounds on internet) and they make very heavy noises. I have also researched ways of getting them out, but found that recommendations of doing it yourself is simply not recommended. But we have no money to do this—-wildlife rescue folks charge a bundle. Meanwhile, they are ripping and tearing at things. I was hoping to find a way from anyone who has had experience in doing this themselves. I do know the risks. Rabies, etc. But if I can get it in a cage, wildlife people will come out and get it for a fraction of the cost of getting it for us. Then we of course might have to go get the kits after she is trapped.
We have a deck outside of our bedroom, and a sliding glass door…I thought of maybe putting a cage out there (we can borrow a trapping cage) with food inside? What are your thoughts?
I thought I should add, this deck, is an upper deck, and we have seen evidence that they visit here at night as they take trash from our trash cans (with snapping and locking lids) and bring it up to the deck and eat it there. They have even opened a peanut butter jar!
Someone suggested that I make sure they are actually in the roof—-believe me, they are. There is no mistaking this…they sound like they are coming in through the ceiling. Scratching, chattering, its like they are in the same room with us. My husband thought he’d get rid of them by throwing door alarms up there. We had a few laying around and all it did was make them quiet for a while (we pictured them stuffing insulation in their little pointed ears). Eventually the batteries ran out in the alarms and it was back to chattering and scratching. Enough to keep us awake and make our kids (we have seven) worry and be afraid.
I am trying to find out about the laws concerning my mothers financial situation as she is in a nursing home and I don’t want the state to get a large chunk of her money if anything happens to her. I have power of attorney and I need to know what to do with her savings, CD’s and her house. Do I need to cash in her CD’s and invest them to make more money for her care, sell her house, ect.

I was the victim of a snatch and grab in front of my house. I followed the dudes and got them arrested and my property recovered. No harm to me or property.
The thugs know where I and my 6 housemates live, they were possibly gang affiliated. I don’t know if I should press charges. What do you think?
Oh yah – the charges are grand theft, they are known drug dealers. Stakes just got higher.

I am fresh outta college making 31k, my plan is to work at my job for a year and apply for a loan on a house…I moved home with my parents to save money to make a big downpayment on the house (roughly 20k, mabey less to hold for repair costs/fluxuations)…I have had a car since I was sixteen, worked many jobs through highschool/college (4 yrs as a flooring installer)…my question is, should I pay off my debt and keep my steady job while saving most of my paycheque (living at home, way cheaper then on my own during college) would the banks finance my mortgage so I can start repairs to sell it? if not, what else can I do to improve my odds? thanks

Since my divorce 2 years ago, I handle all responsibiltiies for my house mortgage, car, etc. for me and my kids. I don’t think it is my boyfriend’s responsibility to take care of my kids, but when he spends 3-4 days a week at my house in comparison to his own, how do you handle monthly house expenses? He chooses to live a very frugal life, which is great as that is his choice. He wasn’t making much money up until he got a new job 4 months ago, so now he makes what I make. I am 34 and have 5 kids, he is 37 and has one.
However, it isn’t comfortable for us to visit him at his house with the kids because there is not much furniture, cable, internet, etc. or much for them to do at all. So, I can see why he wants to stay at my house so much, but I think it is very unfair if after all of our discussions, anytime I am low on money, he offers me a “loan”. If someone is living with you halftime, how many times should you point out the obvious? I have started to have different feelings…

Ok.. help me clear this notion. A friend – who is always full of it (bs’ing) told my wife and I at dinner at one time that he’s buying a $500k house. He told us that he still hasn’t found the right loan yet because he doesn’t want to pay more than $2300 a month. He also told us that the house is already in escrow and just waiting for the right loan. My wife and I look at each other and just smirk. Because when we bought our house, I remembered our agent made sure we had the loan locked before we go escrow which make all sense, b’cos if I’m the seller I’m not going to sell my house if you don’t have the money. It’d be a waste of time. But I’m still curious, can he go escrow without a loan? Or is he just full of more shit!! Thanks.
This is my third chance I’ve given my husband to make things right in our marriage and he has promised me that he will not lie to me and hide things from me any longer. I’ve found out that he keeps doing them and wont keep promises to me. He wont take his depression medication because he thinks that he is fine and that it’s everyone else that needs the help. He blames me for everything…disables our vehicle so I can’t leave the house…will not give me any money unless HE thinks it’s a good enough reason…. will not let me talk on the phone to any of my friends or family without him sitting next to me…..accuses me of cheating on him…..wont let me be online if he is home and only for a short amount of time while he’s gone (he calls to see if I am online from work – dial-up)…..and tells me I do nothing for him and nothing all day long except sit in an air conditioned house watching TV. He has also been telling me that I am just like my mom(needs help!!) and just like his ex-wife.
