Here’s an example. The person who had my job before me. I’ve complained on here about my very modest salary, but here she was, 20+ yrs older than I, still only making $30K/yr. Coincidentally she lived in the same soon-to-be-ghetto ugly neighborhood that I was fortunate to move away from a few yrs ago. Fortunately for her she wasn’t alone — she was married, but her husband didn’t work, so she was supporting two people on $30K/yr. She was almost 50 and still no children. She drove a beater car and my coworker says that she complained all the time about not having enough money, not being able to afford to order lunch from the nearby pizza place, etc.
Now compare this to the coworker we both worked with at one point or another. My coworker was 20, made 50% more money, drove a pimped-out sportscar, had a nice rent-to-own condo, was engaged, had nice “luxuries” like a big screen TV, and both he and his fiancee had 1 child each from previous relationships. Some might say that it’s unfortunate that he became a parent at the young innocent age of 18, but he obviously proved to do well for himself in spite of this obstacle. Compare that to the much older woman who didn’t have any of those things…no wonder she wasn’t very nice to him at work. (I never met this woman, just going by what other coworkers told me about her. I did talk to her once and she said a lot of untrue “trash talk” about the male coworker though…kinda immature). What do you think? I’d rather strive to be like the male coworker than the female’s example, right?
That is a good example Bee. But I’m referring to people that ARE NOT happy with their lives the way the cat lady you know is. Obviously if a coworker b!tches and complains “hmmph, some of us can’t afford to order out, unlike you!” every time her coworker orders lunch from the nearby pizza place, she’s unhappy with her life. And quite frankly I can see why…if I were close to 50 making the small income I have now, supporting an unemployed spouse, with no kids to even speak of, I’d be miserable too.

A publisher launches a site about dogs. The publisher invites freelance writers to contribute stories about certain dog types. Instead of paying the writers for the stories up front, the publisher pays the writers a percentage of the revenue that their stories generate. Revenue is generated by pay-per-click (PPC) ads such as Google Adsense, cost per thousand (CPM) ads such as banner ads, and affiliate programs, such as the one offered by Amazon. Are there services that facilitate this arrangement?

Someone recently told me I wouldn’t be able to claim the expenses and would still have to pay the taxes which I hear is quite high. The profit margin is smaller then the tax rate if I cant claim expenses and if I cant claim I don’t know what I’ll do, I wont have enough to even pay taxes!
